Essential Oils
   
Where the oils can be used.
The most widely known method for using essential oils is through massage. However they can be used in mediums such as beauty products, they can be added to baths as a restorative, they can be inhaled, either through a steam inhaler or a by sprinkling a few drops on the hankie and inhaling deeply. They can be applied locally in the form of compresses to soothe aches, pains sprains or swellings; or a few drops can be applied directly onto cotton wool and dabbed directly onto the affected area. They can be used in the home to add aroma, to clean surfaces or even to repel insects.
Using essential oils safely. Essential oils should be kept in tightly sealed bottles in a cool dark place. Make sure they are stored out of children’s reach. The quality of essential oils can be extremely variable. Because they are expensive, some manufactures mix them with cheaper chemical extracts or dilute them to reduce their selling costs. Be wary of essential oils that are in expensive. The rarer and purer the oil the more expensive the oil will be.
DO NOT USE any essential oil on small children, during pregnancy, or if you are on medication without first informing your doctor and seeking the advice of a qualified aroma therapist. DO NOT SWALLOW an essential oil. If you do so accidentally, eat bread, drink plenty of milk and seek professional help right away.
